Overarching Strategies
National
The Ministerial Council on Drug Strategy (MCDS) has agreed to the development of a National Amphetamine-Type Stimulants Strategy, which will be developed by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing on behalf of MCDS. The Strategy will provide a national framework for addressing issues associated with amphetamine-type stimulants, including methamphetamines such as Ice. Funding will be provided from the National Psychostimulants Initiative (see below).Australian Government
The Australian Government is supporting a National Psychostimulants Initiative (NPI), which aims to identify and disseminate good practice models and approaches for the treatment of psychostimulant use. In addition to supporting broad strategic projects such as the National Amphetamine-Type Stimulants Strategy (see above), the NPI also funds initiatives to improve treatment outcomes for psychostimulant users.
