The Intergovernmental Committee on Drugs (IGCD) is required to provide the Ministerial Council on Drug Strategy (MCDS) with an annual monitoring report dealing with the implementation of the NDS.

This is the seventh annual report on Australian, State and Territory Governments’ progress under the National Drug Strategy 2004-2009 (NDS). The Intergovernmental Committee on Drugs (IGCD) is required to provide the Ministerial Council on Drug Strategy (MCDS) with an annual monitoring report on the implementation of the NDS. This report provides an overview of the activities undertaken over the period 1 July 2005 to 30 June 2006. The report gives a broad national view of the key drug-related issues affecting Australia, in particular, reporting against the various interventions undertaken by government agencies to reduce the supply, demand and harms associated with drug use.
